The Adventures of Ginger
Day 2-I guess Ginger loved his name! We came to school today and this is how we found our classroom...
The Adventures of Ginger
On December 1st we came into school to find that we had a surprise visitor. Santa Clause had sent a scout elf to keep a close eye on my students. Apparently Santa is still trying to finalize his "naughty" and "nice" lists.
We had to name our elf so we decided the fair way to do this was to choose a few names and take a vote. Some of the names we chose were Sprinkles, Luke, Peppermint, Red Coat, and Ginger. To my surprise, Ginger was the winner!

Bat STEM Challenge
This week we learned a little bit about bats during Science. Today our challenge was to design a bat that had a wing span of at least 8 inches, had 2 movable parts, and could hang upside down from a hook. Students were put in groups of 3 and had to work together to complete the task. Students were given some materials and tools and were told they could only use what was given to them. They had 10 minutes to plan and design their bat and then had 30 minutes to build it. It was hectic but we had a great time!

Squam Lake Science Center
Yesterday the 3rd grade went on a field trip to Squam Lake Science Center. First, we found ourselves in the classroom learning about "Marvelous Mammals." We saw a porcupine, bat, and a skunk. After lunch we had the opportunity to walk the trail and see all the animal exhibits. The kids saw a coyote, bobcat, mountain lion, river otter, red-tail hawk, and a horned owl (just to name a few). It was an absolutely beautiful day and the kids were so well behaved.
