Music Presentation
Last Friday our students had a special musical presentation by one of their classmates and her mother. They came in for about 30 minutes and played the cello and keyboard. They also sang a couple of songs. It was a pleasure to hear the talent of one of my students!
Mutlicultural Night
Thank you to everyone that came to Multicultural Night last Thursday. The night was a huge success! From what I hear we had over 600 people attend!!!! I hope you were all happy with your child's work. I think all of the presentations came out amazing. They all worked really hard on researching and designing the presentations. Now we are looking forward to following and cheering our countries on in the Winter Olympics!!!

Team News: Week of January 27-31
This
week: We started Unit 4, Working
Together, in Literacy. Our first story
was an excerpt from A Cricket in Times Square.
We focused on the theme of friendship.
In Math, we began learning about equivalent fractions. We learned that you can multiply the
numerator and the denominator by the same number to make an equivalent
fraction. We worked A LOT on our
multicultural night projects. The slide
show presentations were unbelievably good.
I am so proud of all the kids!
Thank you to all the families who came to Multicultural Night!

Fraction Flowers
This week each student wrote a word problem that included fractions. They then had to make a flower that went along with their word problem. After the flowers were completed they shared their fraction word problems with the class. Each flower was different and unique!!!

Team News: Week of January 6-10
This
week: We got right back into the
swing of things with a full schedule! In
Literacy, we read a play called “Ranita, The Frog Princess.” Ask your child if they had a part in the
play. We focused on identifying the
theme, which is the overall message or lesson of the story. In Math, we did a little division and
multiplication review and began identifying and making fractions. In Social Studies we learned about New
Hampshire in the 20th century and beyond. We also began our projects for multicultural
night. We are researching countries that
participate in the Olympics. This will
also lead us into an ongoing project during the Olympics.
Next
Week: In Literacy, we will
be reading a story called “Me and Uncle Romie” and focusing on character,
setting, and plot. In Math, we will
continue working on identifying and making fractions. In Social Studies, we will begin learning
about New Hampshire’s government. We
will also continue working on our projects for multicultural night.
Don’t
Forget: to practice
multiplication facts, read 20 minutes, and complete homework! As always please check my blog as it has
updates and important information about that is going on at school: www.missrocheford.blogspot.com
