Last Day of School

The last day of school is always bittersweet for me.  I am always a little sad thinking about having to let another group of kids move on to the middle school but I'm also excited for them to begin the next chapter of their educational careers.  This was a wonderful group of kids that I will miss.  Good luck guys and make me proud!

Who Am I?

Our class has been working extremely hard on our "Who Am I?" presentations for the last 2 months.  Each student had to choose a famous historical figure, research the person, create a slide show, and make a puppet to represent their famous person.  Their final products were presented to the class, faculty, and parents this week.  I'm so proud of each and every student; they did an amazing job!  The presentations were better than I ever could have imagined!

We learned about 25 different people that have changed the world in some way.  Harry Houdini, Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Shel Silverstein, George Washington, and Ben Franklin are just a few.  Ask your children about all the different people they learned about!

Ukulele Club @ the Fishercats!!!!

On May 28 the PSS Ukulele Club had the chance to play at the Fishercats baseball game.  They played "America the Beautiful" before the game began.  The did an awesome job!!!

Letters to our Mushers

As a culmination to our Iditarod unit students wrote letters to the mushers they had followed throughout the race.  They told the musher a little bit about themselves and asked them questions about mushing and the Iditarod.  We enclosed self-addressed stamp envelopes in hopes of getting replies.  I am happy to say that about half the class received letters from their mushers.  Some even got a little souvenir along with the letter.  The kids were so excited to see that they had mail!!!  Here are some of the kids showing off their letters:

Cinco De Mayo

A little late but I want to thank Mrs. Hernandez for coming in and teaching our class about Cinco De Mayo.  We learned about the history behind the holiday, made pinatas, and ate traditional Mexican food.  It was a fun afternoon.
